The perfect outdoor paradise, in terms of outdoor activities there is almost every option available within the Vallee de Chamonix, and if it is not, then it is not very far away” Gavin Foster, co-owner

Cycling in Chamonix

Chamonix is a backcountry mountain biker’s paradise, with endless technical and flowing single track. The Valley is linked by a labyrinth of natural, rugged and testing terrain.

We specialise in all mountain riding and the available terrain suits all types of rider and levels of experience. The trails range from rolling routes through the woods of the valley floor to steep rocky Alpine descents that demand your full concentration. At times more than 1000m of vertical in a single descent! Chamonix is all the better for not emulating Les Gets and Morzine – the trails are quieter, feel more natural and a day’s riding is more satisfying for it!

For the more gravity assisted riders, the lifts are open from mid-June to mid-September allowing you to take your rig up to new heights. You may need to bring your passport, as many of the trails descending from Le Tour finish in Switzerland – towards the town of Martigny. Not a problem, it’s just a short ride back to the lifts, or you can even jump on the regular train service back to Chamonix. In addition to the marked trails, there are numerous hidden routes and secret spots that our local knowledge can bring to you. It’s all there: lung bursting climbs, high plateau XC, plenty of singletrack and wicked twisting downhill descents.

If you are bringing your own bike we welcome everything from lightweight hardtails to full-sus monsters. Or we can help you with bike hire from the best shops in town. Either way, we can organise hosted, guided riding and self-guided bike adventures with maps and route cards provided.

The Chalet has bike washing facilities, safe storage and basic tools all on site. We do stress that guests are ultimately responsible for their own decisions and ride entirely at their own risk. On all trips that involve Mountain Biking we ask for all guests to take out suitable insurance cover.

Cycling Tours

Pack as much Alpine riding into one very special weekend. Based in Chamonix, our team will take you to the best freeride and downhill locations in the Alps. Ride 4 of the best hills in Europe, take in 3 countries and reel in as much vertical as you can handle! Minimum Group Size: 6

Day 1 Chamonix

Get into the groove and spend a day riding with us on the trails we know best. You’ll need to be on your game right from the start as the technical single track that runs to our doorstep shows no mercy to nobody!

Day 2 Pila

The location for the 2005 World Cup Downhill, Pila has more than enough to offer for the gravity junkies among you. Fast tracks with berms and the seriously big air are on offer in this corner of the Italian Aosta Valley.

Day 3 La Clusaz

La Clusaz is not to be underestimated, with over 200km of marked and graded trails on the Aravis Massif. Our local knowledge of the valley goes a long way to making it a memorable day somewhere a little different. La Clusaz also offers some truly epic Downhill trails from lifts at Beauregard, Cret du Merle and Cret du Loop. How does a 790-meter vertical single descent sound? Fast, open trails with well made and managed jumps, drops, bermed corners and even a wooden suspension bridge to negotiate. It may not have the profile but trust us – this is not a filler day!

Day 4 Morzine

Morzine and the wider Portes du Soleil area need no introduction to the Alpine mountain biker. Spend a day riding with us on some of the most famous trails in the Alps. Endless fast Downhill descents, gnarli technical Northshore and plenty of parks to huck your carcass in too. A big day out! If Stuart is with you, double cheeseburgers and a beer in the village are mandatory prior to heading back to Chamonix.

Day 5 Chamonix wind-down day

After 4 pretty intense days, take a day to yourself to ride some more in the Chamonix valley, take in the scenery, choose your own routes and enjoy some peace from the team! We would be more than happy to suggest where to ride and drive you to the start and finish points if required.
